Own Your Worth
…owning small truths…
I am the Queen.
The Queen bee of this Humble Hive. The gentle and final authority in my one life.
It’s time I start acting like it.
It’s also time you begin owning your worth.
YOU direct, define and determine the value you bring into this world.
The world reflects back the image you hold of yourself.
If people are treating you like shit, chances are, you treat yourself like that. Even worse, while you might not like it, on some level you believe you deserve it.
The last time I tried to kill myself, I felt worthless. Useless. Good for nothing. Exactly what I’d been told. Years of learning that my existence meant nothing to anyone.
At the last moment, before driving into the abyss, a small, still voice spoke in my heart.
You can’t do this. You can’t leave your children to fend for themselves. He won’t take care of them. If you survive, he won’t take care of you either.
In that instant of clarity, I yanked the car back into its proper lane, then slowed to a stop, safe on the side of the road.
Looming before me, the precipice over which I had nearly flown. A tinge of regret, swallowed by waves of relief. Then anguish. Gasping sobs, knowing I must go on.
(the small truth then, six humans awaiting my arrival…my heart could not bear the weight of leaving them alone)
Something had to change, and the only thing I knew I could change was myself.
Even though I wasn’t the problem, my thinking nearly cost me my life. I had become the real problem.
I believed the lies. The stories I’d heard all my life became the stories I told myself.
What lies about yourself have you believed? What stories were you told that you allowed to define your worth? What stories do you tell that hurt your heart as they fall from your lips?
Twenty years have gone by since I wanted to end my life. Years of more mistakes, more learning and more growing.
What I know now, is that I am enough.
You are too, you know.
You don’t need to prove or explain yourself.
You don’t have to apologize.
You are a brilliant spark of Divine Source Energy.
we are all little sparks of God
We have forgotten the truth of who we are.
In those moments of connection, when we feel inspired, when we get into flow, our soul remembers.
We see the light in ourselves and others. Our hearts know our worth, no need for words to reinforce or dilute what we feel to the core of our being.
Staying open is the work.
Returning again and again to the truth.
Refusing fear, doubt, anger.
Choosing love. Choosing forgiveness. Choosing ourselves in a moment of angst.
The work, though simple, is not always easy.
The world endeavors to prove us wrong. Other humans, shrouded in their own fears, work to dim our light.
First, we each own the truth. We choose love. We see our demons, snarling and angry, and we tame them.
Then, we turn up the light. As we live our worth, we shine. In our courage, we remind others of their beauty, their truth, their love.
We hold a candle to light the spark.
Sharing our worth, we encourage and empower others to hold themselves in higher esteem.
the small truth now whispers of your worth…allow truth to settle into your heart…you are enough…perfectly, divinely, exactly enough

My small truth today: I appreciate the rugged beauty of mountains in spring. I appreciate the genuine smile, seen in the eyes of client who is appreciating my presence. No words pass between us but his smile says it all as he deals another round of rummy.
What do you say we go behind that rock over there and get a little boulder?
